Milli Vanilli did it. Ashlee Simpson did it. We're sure Britney Spears probably did. Why can't you? Enter a Puttin' on the Hits contest in your town. Be a Star.

Steps

  1. Find a song that has lots of lyrics in it. Try to avoid ones with long guitar solos or instrumental sections.
  2. Learn that song. If the singer has an easily understood voice listen to what they're saying. Learn the words so you can mouth them correctly.
  3. Watch how people talk. Pay attention to how people with different accents move their lips differently to yours. Imagine yourself saying what someone else is on TV. Practice this for a while.
  4. Set up your video camera after making yourself look pretty, listen to the song on headphones. By now you should know when the entrances of lyrics are. Merely try to match your lips to the song while you're filming; that's all it is. If it helps, in your head go over the lyrics, and pretend your singing it by mouthing the words.
  5. Upload the video onto your media editor
  6. Import and Sync the song to your film. Make sure your audio from the video is off and only the music can be heard.
  7. Edit your video to your pleasure, adding effects in tune to give your video some action.
  8. Export your song. Show your friends!

Tips

  • Have fun with the song. Maybe do a play on words while you're syncing (i.e do the 'call me' sign if the singer says something like 'ring me up')
  • Don't try to sing the exact words of the songs, merely what the artist sounds like they're saying. In other words, if the word is "Example" but the artist pronounces it "Icksumpul", don't make the lip movements of "Example!"
  • The trick to lip syncing is knowing the entrances and coming in about a split second before. Otherwise you will lag.
  • Don't try too hard. Not all lip syncers are perfect, and you're bound to mess up

Warnings

  • Get your friends together, buy a fake microphone, and practice, practice, practice before you perform at a public contest.
