Glazed carrots are a sweet, delicious vegetable side dish that even the pickiest eaters usually enjoy. They're not difficult to make either, so they're ideal to pair with any meal. However, if you have a busy schedule, you may appreciate a even simpler way of preparing them than the usual stove-top method. Enter the slow cooker. By combining the carrots and some other ingredients in your slow cooker, you only have to turn it on and let the carrots cook for a few hours. Make brown sugar glazed, cinnamon sugar glazed, honey glazed, orange glazed, or pineapple glazed carrots that will wow your friends and family with hardly any effort at all.

  • ¾ teaspoon (4 g) salt
  • 2 tablespoons (16 g) cornstarch

Steps

Whipping Up Slow Cooker Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots

  1. Grease the slow cooker. To ensure that the glazed carrots don’t stick to your slow cooker, it’s important to grease it. Spray the interior with a nonstick cooking spray before preparing the carrots.[1]
    • For the brown sugar glazed carrots, you should use a slow cooker that holds at least 3 ½ quarts (3.3 l).
    • You can use a slow cooker liner if you don’t want to grease the slow cooker.
  2. Combine the carrots, salt, brown, sugar, and butter in the slow cooker. Once the slow cooker is greased, add 32 ounces (950 g) of ready-to-eat baby-cut carrots to it. Next, sprinkle ½ teaspoon (3 g) of salt, ½ cup (100 g) of packed brown sugar, and 2 tablespoons (28 g) of butter that’s been cut into pieces over the carrots.[2]
    • You don’t need to mix the ingredients together. They will blend as they cook.
  3. Cook the mixture on high for 4 to 5 hours. When all of the ingredients are in the slow cooker, cover it. Allow the carrots to cook on high heat for 4 to 5 hours, or until they are as tender as you’d like.[3]
    • Stir the carrots after two hours to ensure that they’re cooking evenly.
  4. Transfer the carrots to a serving bowl and garnish them with the parsley. Once the carrots are tender, use a spoon to place them in a serving bowl. Season them with additional salt and pepper if you like, and sprinkle 1 tablespoon (4 g) of chopped fresh parsley over them before serving.[4]
    • If there is any sauce left behind in the slow cooker when you take out the carrots, you can spoon it over them in the serving dish.

Preparing Cinnamon Sugar Glazed Carrots

  1. Grease the slow cooker. To keep the carrots from sticking to the slow cooker, you must grease it. Use a nonstick cooking spray to coat the interior before adding the ingredients.[5]
    • Be sure to use a slow cooker that holds at least 4 quarts (3.8 l).
    • You can use a slow cooker liner instead of greasing the slow cooker if you prefer.
  2. Toss the carrots with the melted butter. When the slow cooker is greased, add 2 pounds (900 g) of ready-to-eat baby carrots and 2 tablespoons (28 g) of melted butter. Toss the two together so the carrots are completely coated.[6]
  3. Cook the carrots on high until they’re tender. Once the carrots and butter are mixed, cover the slow cooker. Allow the carrots to cook on high heat for 3 to 4 hours, or until they are tender.[7]
    • Halfway through cooking, it’s a good idea to stir the carrots to ensure that they’re heating evenly.
  4. Mix the brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and salt. While the carrots are cooking, add ½ cup (100 g) of firmly packed brown sugar, 1 ½ teaspoons (3 g) of ground cinnamon, ½ teaspoon (1 g) of ground ginger, and ½ teaspoon (3 g) of salt to a small bowl. Stir well to ensure that the ingredients are fully mixed and set aside for the moment.[8]
  5. Add the cinnamon mixture to the carrots and toss to combine. When the carrots are almost finished cooking, sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over them in the slow cooker. Stir the mixture well to ensure that the carrots are fully coated.[9]
    • You should add the cinnamon sugar mixture to the carrots just before you’re ready to serve them.
  6. Transfer the carrots to a dish and serve. Once the carrots have been tossed with the cinnamon sugar mixture, use a spoon to place them in a serving dish or bowl. Spoon any sauce that may be remaining in the slow over over them and serve the carrots while still warm.[10]

Fixing Slow Cooker Honey Glazed Carrots

  1. Grease the slow cooker. To prevent the carrots from sticking, you should grease the slow cooker. Spray a nonstick cooking spray to the interior before you add the carrots and other ingredients.[11]
    • For this recipe, you should use a slow cooker that holds at least 2 quarts (1.9 l).
  2. Combine the carrots, butter, and honey. After you’ve greased the slow cooker, add 1 pound (450 g) of carrots that have been cleaned and cut into 1-inch (2.5-cm) pieces and 2 tablespoons (28 g) of butter to it. Next, drizzle 2 tablespoons (43 g) of honey over the carrots.[12]
    • You don’t have to stir the ingredients together. They will combine as they cook.
  3. Season the mixture with salt and pepper. Once you’ve added the carrots, butter, and honey to the slow cooker, add some salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle the seasonings as evenly as possible over over the carrot mixture.[13]
    • If you like, you can add in other spices, such as cinnamon, ginger, or nutmeg.
  4. Cook the mixture for 3 hours. When all of the ingredients are mixed, cover the slow cooker. Let the carrots cook on high for 3 hours or until they are as tender as you’d like.[14]
    • You may want to stir the carrot mixture every so often while they’re cooking to ensure that they heat evenly.
  5. Spoon the carrots into a bowl and serve. When the carrots are finished cooking, transfer them to a serving dish or bowl. Serve them alongside your favorite main course while they’re still warm.[15]

Putting Together Slow Cooker Orange Glazed Carrots

  1. Combine the butter, honey, orange juice, zest, ginger, and salt. Add 3 tablespoons (43 g) of melted butter, ¼ cup (85 g) of honey, 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of fresh orange juice, 1 tablespoon (6 g) of orange zest, ½ teaspoon (1 g) of ground ginger, and ¼ teaspoon (1 g) of salt to the slow cooker. Whisk the ingredients together until they’re fully combined.[16]
    • If you like, you can mix the glaze the day before and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator until you’re ready to make the carrots.
  2. Add the carrots and toss well. Once the glaze is mixed, add 3 pounds (1350 g) of carrots that have been peeled and sliced into ¼ inch (6-mm) rounds to the slow cooker. Stir them into the glaze so they’re fully coated.[17]
    • You can peel and cut the carrots the day before, and store them in the refrigerator in zip-top plastic bags.
  3. Cook the carrots until they are tender. When the carrots and glaze are mixed, cover the slow cook. Allow the carrots to cook on high heat for 2 to 3 hours, or until they are tender.[18]
    • Stir the carrots halfway through the cooking process to ensure that they’re heating evenly.
    • If you prefer, you can cook the carrots on low heat for 4 to 6 hours.
  4. Transfer the carrots to a dish and serve warm. When the carrots are finished cooking, remove them from the slow cooker with a slotted spoon. Transfer them to a bowl, and serve while they’re still warm.[19]
    • If you like, you can garnish the carrots with chopped, fresh parsley.

Making Slow Cooker Pineapple Glazed Carrots

  1. Combine the pineapple with juice, sugar, vinegar, salt, and cornstarch. Add a 19 fluid ounce (540 ml) can of pineapple tidbits with juice, ½ cup (100 g) of brown sugar, 3 tablespoons (45 ml) of balsamic vinegar, ¾ teaspoon (4 g) of salt, and 2 tablespoons (16 g) of cornstarch to a medium bowl. Stir the ingredients together until they’re fully combined.[20]
  2. Add the carrots to the slow cooker and stir in the pineapple mixture. After you’ve mixed the glaze, add 2 pounds (900 g) of carrots that have been peeled and sliced into coins to a slow cooker. Next, pour the pineapple mixture over them and stir well so the carrots are fully coated.[21]
    • You should use a slow cooker that holds at least 2 ½ quarts (2.4 l).
  3. Cook the carrots until they are tender. When the carrots and pineapple glaze are mixed, cover the slow cooker. Let the carrots cook on high heat for 3 to 4 hours or until they are as tender as you’d like.[22]
    • If you prefer, you can cook the carrots on low heat for 5 to 6 hours.
  4. Serve the carrots while they’re still warm. Once the carrots are finished cooking, transfer them to a serving bowl. Spoon any sauce remaining in the slow cooker over them, and serve while they are still warm.[23]
    • Chopped fresh parsley makes an ideal garnish for the carrots.
