Sometimes it's necessary to resize an image or graphic, and the easiest way to do that on paper is to use a grid. This wikiHow will tell you how to do that!

Steps

  1. Find a picture. Consider using a cartoon, because it's harder to draw real people.
  2. Make a square around the drawing (with a ruler, of course).
  3. Make a mark every half-inch on the X axis of the square, then every half-inch on the Y axis.
  4. Connect them to the other side of the line so you have squares on your picture. You could also scan the image into your computer and Transfer Images Using a Grid and a Computer.
  5. Get a blank piece of paper. Measure how long the picture you have is, across and down. Make one-inch marks instead of half-inch on the new square on your new paper.
  6. Draw the picture box by box.
  7. If you're satisfied with your drawing, go over it with a permanent marker and then erase the grid.

Tips

  • Create a grid of the size you desire in ink on a separate page, and place it under your blank paper. You should be able to see through your target paper to see the grid. Make sure the pages stay together. Use the grid paper again and again.

Warnings

  • On the blank sheet of paper, don't draw the grids with pen. It's obviously non-erasable, so use pencil for the drawing only.
  • Never use lined paper! You might have to do it again because of that annoying red line and those holes!
  • Be careful so you don't poke yourself with the pen!
