The Nook Color eReader is an Android powered eReader released by Barnes and Noble. The device blurs the line between an eReader and a tablet and offers many levels of customization. One such level is the ability to change the wallpaper on the home screen. The following article describes how to change the wallpaper.

Steps

Using the Home Screen

  1. Tap and hold down your finger on the Nook home screen. This will reveal a dialog allowing for the changing of the wallpaper as well as the Clean Your Phone Screen.
  2. Tap on the option that reads "Change Wallpaper". This will bring up a dialog allowing you to choose your new wallpaper.
  3. Tap on the wallpaper that you wish to set as the home screen wallpaper. Take note of the tab labeled "Photo Gallery", as this contains more photos that may be set as the wallpaper.
  4. If necessary, re-size the picture. This may not be necessary for the photos under the "Wallpaper" tab as they are optimized for the screen size. Take note of your ability to pinch and stretch your fingers apart to re-size the frame that represents your screen.
  5. Allow the wallpaper to finish loading and return to the home screen.

Using the Quick Launch Bar

  1. Tap the upward-facing white arrow on the bottom of the screen. This will reveal the "Quick Launch Bar". Tap "Settings" on the bar.
  2. Tap "Home" under the "App Settings" heading. This will open a screen that allows you to change the wallpaper or clear the keep reading list.
  3. Tap "Change wallpaper". This will reveal a dialog identical to the one described in Method 1. Tap on the wallpaper that you wish to set as the home screen wallpaper. Again, take note of your ability to navigate the "Photo Gallery" tab for available wallpapers.
  4. If prompted, re-size the Choose a Desktop Wallpaper by manipulating the frame representing your home screen. Again, take note of your ability to pinch and stretch your fingers to re-size the frame as described in Method 1.
  5. Allow the wallpaper to load and return to your home screen.

Tips

  • You can use your own wallpapers by plugging your Nook into a computer and adding the pictures to your Pictures folder.
  • Check online. There are many reliable sources for other wallpapers such as superhero and food themes which you can download on to your computer and place onto your Nook.

Warnings

  • Don't try this if the Nook color belongs to a computer network that does not allow you to change the wallpaper as some are preset automatically by companies or schools and changing the wallpaper without permission will get you busted.
