Pokémon X and Y players, are you looking for a new challenge to spice up your game experience? Well, you could try the Wonderlocke challenge. It's a challenge similar to the Do a Nuzlocke Challenge in Pokémon, except that you can only use Pokémon that you get over Wonder Trading.

Steps

  1. Start a new file on your Pokémon X or Y game.
  2. Get to the point where you've received your starter Pokémon, Pokédex, and Poké Balls.
  3. Catch Pokémon, following the normal Nuzlocke rules of one Pokémon per area. Once you've caught at least one Pokémon, deposit your starter Pokémon in the PC, and trade the Pokémon you caught over a Wonder Trade.
  4. Every time you catch a new Pokémon, trade it over a Wonder Trade.
  5. Go through the game normally, using only the Pokémon you receive through Wonder Trading. Like in the Nuzlocke challenge, if a Pokémon faints, you have to release it or permanently store it in a box in the PC.

Tips

  • You need a working internet connection to use the Wonder Trade feature.
  • You can also add other optional rules of your own to make the game harder, such as only healing through items or through Pokémon Centers, putting the "Battle Style" setting on "Set" so that the opposing trainer sends out their next Pokémon before you're able to switch your Pokémon, and using a level limit, where your Pokémon can't have a level higher than the next Gym Leader/Champion's highest level Pokémon.
  • You can't use Pokémon that are 10 levels higher than the Pokémon you sent up for trade.
  • Box any Pokémon that refuse to obey you.
  • Despite the title saying Pokémon X and Y, you can do this in any Pokémon game that involves Wonder Trading, including Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, Sun, and Moon.
