The outswinger is a ball traditionally bowled with a side on action. It is a great ball to bowl to right and left handed batsman alike.

Steps

  1. Get a new ball, or a ball with one half shiny and one half rough.
  2. Hold the seam making it face 1st slip, or hold it straight up and down.
  3. Run in normally, as you enter your delivery stride, try to get your whole body to face reasonably side on.
  4. Bring your bowling arm to perpendicular or slightly round arm, then bring your bowling arm across your chest area and make sure you finish beside your left hip.

Tips

  • Compensate for the swing - It is obvious but you have to know how much the ball is swinging on that particular day, and adjust your aim accordingly. You are not bowling an old cricket ball remember?
  • Start by bowling just outside off stump, and occasionally bowl one on middle stump to confuse the batsman
  • Shine the ball. Again, it's pretty obvious, but keep one side of the ball shiny.
  • Bowling action is a must. No point in even trying to do this if you are a front on bowler.

Warnings

  • Don't try in a match until you have practised at the nets at least a couple of times
  • do not afraid of four or sixes
  • Do it continuously until the bowl is damaged
  • do not afraid of little bit injury , go to doctor an take a bandage
