Bricks are a decorative building block in Minecraft. They can make houses, towers and other structures look more interesting and can be crafted to help build a solid brick staircase. They can also make a good non-flammable fireplace.

Steps

Smelting individual bricks

  1. Mine one clay block. Clay is found next to, or in, rivers or lakes. Each clay block produces four clay balls, which you obtain by breaking the clay block by hand or with a shovel.
  2. Place the four clay balls into the furnace. The furnace will smelt the clay balls into four bricks.

Crafting a brick block

Brick blocks are what you build from rather than the simple bricks formed by smelting. As such, you'll need to craft brick blocks.

  1. Place the four bricks made in the previous section into the crafting grid, arranged as follows:
    • Place one brick in the center slot.
    • Place one brick in the slot left of the center.
    • Place the remaining two bricks directly below the first two bricks.
  2. Craft the brick block. To place it in your inventory, shift click or drag to your inventory.

Using brick blocks as a crafting ingredient

  1. Make a brick slab. Brick slabs are half a brick, useful for building. To craft, place three brick blocks along the bottom row in the crafting grid. You'll get six brick slabs. Shift click or drag to your inventory.
  2. Make a set of brick stairs. Brick stairs are combined to make a staircase for climbing and descending. Place six brick blocks into the crafting grid, three across the bottom row, one in the center and one to its right, and one in the top right hand corner slot. You'll get four stairs. Shift click or drag to your inventory.

Tips

  • Brick have to be crafted to be obtained. It does not spawn naturally in any dimension of the game.

Warnings =

  • Don't craft brick in your house with huge concentration so creepers are not always trying to get in!
