Install Project M Without Hacking Your Wii
Project M is a fan-made mod of Super Smash Bros. Brawl that makes it play more like Super Smash Bros. Melee. In addition, it adds stages featured in Super Smash Bros. Melee, as well and Roy and Mewtwo, two characters that didn't return to Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Unlike other Brawl mods, you don't need to mod your Wii to play it. Just follow these instructions to install Project M and play it without hacking your Wii.
Steps
- Delete all of your custom stages in your Brawl file and on your SD card. Remember, just because you haven't created any custom stages doesn't mean that you don't have any. There are three stages that are generated whenever a new saved file is created.
- Download either of the "Hackless Wii ZIP" files from the Project M website and unzip the folder. Alternatively, you could download the "Hackless Launcher" file from the site and use the launcher to generate the folder.
- Move the contents of the folder to your SD card.
- Start your Wii with your Brawl disk and the SD card you have the Project M files on.
- Start up the game. From the game's menu, go to "Vault", and from there, go to "Stage Builder".
- Gecko OS will launch. Select "Launch Game" from the menu.
- Project M will launch after a few seconds of loading.
Tips
- You'll need either an NTSC (North American) or Japanese copy of Brawl for Project M to work.
- If you have a previous version of Project M on your SD card, you'll have to delete it before installing a new one.
Warnings
- Make sure that wherever you get Project M from is safe. If you download an infected copy, not only your computer can be at risk but also your Wii too. If you accidentally install a virus onto your Wii using this method, you can lose your warranty.
