Sometimes in life we want things that we need to ask someone for. This is a guide to show you how to get what you want.

Steps

  1. Wait until the person is in a good mood. Don't ask them for something after anything negative has happened to them. For example: don't ask if they look upset or if you got a bad grade on your report card. Ask and if they say no ask again and if they still say no make a SAD face and say please until they say yes and then after that help them so they won't think your using them.
  2. Get on the person's good side. If they need help with something, give it to them. If they want you to sweep the floor, do it (or at least make up a very good excuse for not doing it).
  3. Make it seem like you are doing them a favor. If you are asking your mom to buy take away for dinner, say that you know how hard she has been working lately and you think she shouldn't have to cook. If you want to go to a party, say that you will give them a break to relax for a night. There is always a way to make it seem like you are doing someone a favor. Be persuasive maybe a little manipulative when asking whatever it is you want, but not to the point where it is blatantly obvious you only seek their company because you want something; no one wants to be used like that.
  4. Thank them and act like they were doing a huge favor. Get on their good side for next time you want something.

Tips

  • Don't throw a tantrum if they say no. Just make them feel bad about not letting you do/have what you want. Say that you try really hard to help and it's disappointing that you didn't get what you want. Crying is acceptable if you are desperate but make it the sad, miserable crying (as opposed to the angry, tantrum crying).
  • Stay cool and don't get in their way you know that might upset them.
  • Don't ask for anything else - focus on what you want. If you see another thing you like don't ask for it. Think to yourself - is this better than what I want at present? Buying things lead to other coincidences like your parents might say "you already bought that thing you wanted the other day so you can't have this".
  • If they're only letting you borrow it, then you better return it to them in good condition.
  • Don't be too sweet all of a sudden. The puppy face does not work and either of these will make your parents have doubts and suspect that you're wanting something. Be calm.
  • Don't sound desperate, as if you really want something, because then they will start making you do stuff for it. Act like it's no big deal if they say no. Still try again though.
  • Don't be kind suddenly. This causes suspicions and you're most likely to be caught! Gradually, become kinder over time. If you want something, make sure to begin your plan a day or two before to make the plan work smoothly.
  • Try asking them for something bigger first, then, if they refuse, ask them for the smaller thing. They're more likely to say yes this way.
  • Try saying something like "I did really well at school" or "I was the only one to finish the math work given at school!". They'll start thinking that you're becoming more responsible and should be allowed your desires.
  • If somebody else wants something, pretend that you are doing them a huge favor so they will think you are a nice person.
  • Keep calm until you get what you want. Keep on begging but don't make it obvious.
  • Don't ask for something right after you've done something wrong. You're likely to get a "no" in response.

Warnings

  • If they say no, try again later. Just don't try too much or you will annoy them and you won't get what you want next time as well.
