This is a great and simple recipe. Although it takes around 3 hours, it is worth the wait for times like a get-together or events at the house. Despite the many opinions stating that boiling dry roasted peanuts does not work ,it in fact does work very well based upon results. Take a chance, give it a shot, you won't be sorry.

Ingredients

  • 1 one pound bag of dry roasted peanuts in the shell.
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1 tablespoon of crushed red pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of chipotle seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of garlic powder or garlic salt
  • Water

Steps

  1. Assemble all of the ingredients.
  2. Boil together for a minimum of 3 hours.
  3. Check every 45 minutes to ensure that there is enough water. The water will start to boil down and need replacing.
  4. Start to let the water boil away in the third hour. Not so much that the peanuts burn, but enough that the seasoning will stick to the shells to add more flavor and spice.

Tips

  • Although using fresh green peanuts is more desired, this is still very tasty and less hassle depending on the area you live that may or may not supply fresh green peanuts
  • To increase the recipe, just duplicate the ingredients, however much is needed. You can easily boil up to 4 lbs or more using this same recipe, just simply double, triple or quad up on the ingredients.

Warnings

  • Peanuts are a registered common allergen.
