Hugs. Hugs, hugs, hugs. That simple and easy way to show someone how much we care about them. Often, people can feel lonely and disconnected from others. How can you help? Sometimes a friendly hug can brighten someone's day, and it's a fun and easy way to help make the world a brighter place.

Steps

  1. Look for a friend or family member who seems lonely. Look for signs that show their loneliness, such as reticence, pensiveness or sorrowful facial expressions. Those are the ones who probably need a hug the most!
  2. Walk up to them and give them your special hug. Don't crush or smother them, and alternately, don't give them a weak halfhearted hug either - just hug them.
  3. Tell them how much you love, care and appreciate them. Compliment and show them your gratitude for something they've done for you, or just give them the equally simple and beautiful "I love you.". These words and a simple hug, no matter how small they seem at first, can truly help the other person get out of their solitary mental state.
  4. Do some group hugs. Group hugging takes place when all members of a group form together one big hug, forming a big circle doing so. Group hugging is usually found in team events and performances, especially in the field of sports if we talk about teams.

Tips

  • Try to hug the person when you are both about to leave. You can also hug every time you meet.
  • Don't stop at hugging! If it's a close friend, talk with them and try to brighten up their day.
  • If someone is wearing a "hug me" shirt, ask if you can hug them.
  • Smile and show a lot of energy! The more enthusiastic and smiling you are, the better that person will feel.
  • When you hug children, they feel secured and happy. They also reciprocate the most and are fast learners. Parents, friends and family friends can hug children.

Warnings

  • Do not slap or grab their butts, or touch other sensitive parts of their body when giving a hug.
  • Do not give hugs to complete strangers. Many people will feel creeped out if they don't know you. Some people may even consider being touched in such a way to be very wrong.
