This bunny basket looks great with its stuffed animal tucked in, but you can also fill it with a wide variety of small baby items for your next baby shower. The bunny basket itself, made from two bath towels, makes an easy and perfect gift carrier for the expecting mom in your life!

Steps

  1. Place the two towels together length ways to form a square. Roll them diagonally into the center.
  2. Fold the rolled length in half.
  3. Halfway down, as shown, place a piece of elastic or rubber band around it to secure it in place. The rounded section forms the body of the bunny and the two loose ends that a remain form the ears.
  4. Fold the ear section back onto the body to form the head and secure it with elastic.
  5. To make the ears pointy, take a wire coat hanger and form it into a v shape.
  6. Push the wire into the back of the ears and bend the hanger hook underneath the bunny. Pin the ear fabric around the wire to hold them up. (It's a little like a hem around the wire).
  7. Add the "wobble eyes" either with glue or double sided tape (so it can be removed later).
  8. Finish the bunny by tying the ribbon around the head.

Tips

  • This would also be a great Easter Basket. Just fill the center with Easter candy and an Easter Bunny. Likewise, you can fill it with small kitchen gadgets and bring it to a housewarming party.
  • An alternative is to avoid the steps with the wire hanger and leave the ears floppy.
  • Add baby rattles, teething rings, or other small items, and bring to a baby shower.
  • You can substitute blankets in place of towels.
  • Place the bunny onto a cake base or cardboard base for stability when transporting it and secure it with double sided scotch tape.

Warnings

  • If you do decide to use the hanger to make the ears pointy, be careful while working with it, as it is very sharp. Also, make sure that the hanger doesn't poke out anywhere, because you don't want to hurt a baby!

Things You'll Need

  • Wire coat hanger
  • 2 bath towels
  • 2 inch (5 cm) wobble Eyes
  • 1 length of ribbon
  • 1/2" (1.2 cm) elastic or rubber bands
