Are you uncomfortable sharing your friends list on Facebook with the general public? Facebook allows you to hide your list from view if you so desire. And if you're sick of seeing a certain “friend’s” posts, you can banish them from sight without them ever knowing. Read on after the jump to find out how.

Steps

Hiding Your Friends List

  1. Open your Facebook profile. Log in to Facebook and open your profile page.
  2. Click the “Friends” button underneath your cover photo. This will open a list of all of your friends.
  3. Click the “Manage” button. This is the little square button next to the “+Find Friends” button. It has a pencil icon on it.
  4. Select “Edit Privacy”. This will open a new window where you can adjust your privacy settings for your friends list.
  5. Select your privacy options. Next to “Friend List”, click the drop-down menu to see your privacy options. If you don’t want anyone to see your friends list, select “Only Me”. You can also set it to a custom setting, or to one of the Make-Friends-Lists-on-Facebook.

Hiding a Friend’s Posts on Your Timeline

  1. Find a post from the friend that you want to hide. If you’re tired of seeing your friend’s posts, but you don’t want to unfriend them, you can hide posts from them so that they will no longer appear on your timeline.
  2. Hover your cursor over the post. You will see a down arrow icon appear to the right of the post. Click on this arrow to open a small menu.
  3. Click “Unfollow <friend’s name>”. This will remove the post and will prevent future posts from appearing on your news feed. You can undo this by clicking the Undo link, or by visiting the friend’s profile and clicking the “Follow” button.
